For 2025, there will not be a Fast Track area at Arisia.
The Arisia 2025 convention chairs have made a decision regarding Fast Track (FT), which historically has been Youth Services programming for children aged 6-12. We had several great folks interested in running Fast Track programming. However, after a thorough search we have been unable to identify a qualified candidate for FT Area Head. This position is vital to building and managing a complex area of programming that runs the length of the convention for some of our most vulnerable attendees.
Without a FT Area Head, we have made the difficult decision to not offer FT this year. This does not impact Turtle Track/Babysitting, which is provided by paid professionals through a contracted 3rd-party vendor. This also does not impact Teen Lounge, which has an Area Head with a passion for bringing more to the lounge than before.
What does this mean for children/attendees who generally fall within the 6-12yro age range and their families coming to Arisia? For this year, Arisia will offer the Geeky Family ClubHouse space! This will be a place where families with children ages 6-12 can come and take a break together. There will be some arts and craft supplies and a television with internet connection for streaming services. This will not be a drop-off service for families; rather, the child’s grownup must accompany them - much like how Geeky Play Dates operated in years past. A member of the Arisia Safety Team will be in place to ensure posted rules are followed.
The registration type has been updated to reflect this reality:
- Kid-in-Tow may be used for any child including 6-12 years old, who would otherwise have been given a red ribbon or “must be with their grownup at all times”
- Student rate may be used for any child 9+ who would otherwise have been given a green ribbon to attend the convention without being with their grownup at all times (free roam)
Note: Any Code of Conduct violation by an attendee including students will be handled accordingly.
